VARIATIONS

Fuel injection systems in modern engines are mostly of the multi-point electronic type, often abbreviated as EFI (electronic fuel injection). This means the fuel is squirted into each cylinder by a computer controlled fuel injector. However, some fuel injected engines have a centrally located fuel injector that introduces fuel into the airflow stream before it reaches the cylinders. These single-point injection systems are called throttle body injection, or TBI for short.
